Goodbye for now

On Sunday night I had to say goodbye to my good friend Kim as she is heading overseas for 8 months. She is the Speech Pathologist were I work and we have become good friends over the last few years. It is always sad to say goodbye, but at least I know she will come back. I think it will spur me on to join a playgroup or something so that I can meet some more people. It can get lonely being a stay home mum when everyone you know works!

Bye Kim - see you when you get back!

Kim and Mark with Mark

First Easter

Well Mark has now had his first Easter. As you can see in the photo he had a pretty good time. The Wednesday night and Thursday before Easter we went to visit Mama and Papa on the Sunshine Coast. I think Mama really enjoyed seeing her little grandson again. It made me think again how nice it would be to live a little closer to them.
On Saturday afternoon Stephen's parents and his sister and brother-in-law came to visit. They stayed overnight and were here for most of Easter Sunday. We had a nice time and ate way too much chocolate and still have so much still to eat! Yesterday Mark slept most of the day, he must have been exhausted.
Mark is going well, he has decided that he loves food and is now eating his solids with no hassles which makes meal times much more easy. He is very actively reaching for everything now, so it is really hard to have him sitting on your lap when you are eating etc. as he gets into everything!

Mark and his girlfriend Indiana

Friday, March 18, 2005

Here is Mark wearing his Gaudi shirt (for those of you who don't know Gaudi is an architect). Stephen bought this in Barcelona. He says he has to introduce him to architecture early, along with things that go with it, eg. sniffing coffee etc!!!!

Sleep, Glorious Sleep!

Stephen and I both woke up feeling much more refreshed this morning. Mark has been keeping us up the last few nights, but last night he slept through. You can't really appreciate how wonderful sleep is until you have had bad sleep for a month! As I say, lucky babies are so adorable as otherwise I am sure we would get much more frustrated by them! Now let's hope we can get a few good nights of sleep in a row!

Re-published

I have re-published some of the photos below - still having some issues though.

Photo problems

Sorry, most of my photos seem to have disappeared. I am still new to this and hope to figure out soon what is going wrong.

sitting

5 months old

I'm sitting!

Mark turned 5 months old yesterday. He is now able to sit quite well. For a few minutes at a time. He loves rough play eg. being tipped upside down, and shrieks in delight. He is so cute at the moment!

Growing up so fast!

Look I can stand!

Mark can now stand and sit! However he still has no interest in rolling around to get anywhere. Oh well it really does teach you that kids do everything in their own time. Probably a good lesson for me to learn as an Occupational Therapist who works with kids. I think my view will be a lot different when I return to work. I have already been told that I am a lot softer on Mark than I am on the kids at work - has he already got me wrapped around his little finger?

If a child started to cry because of something I was making them do eg. be on their tummy, I would persist. My little man makes a peep and I comfort him and say "It's OK". Now I will understand why some parents get suched pained expressions on their faces during therapy! I think I will need to get tougher with my little boy, especially as he grows up.

Landscaping

After

We ahve been busy landscaping our garden. Here are some before and after pics of our front path. Our brother-in-law Matt is a landscape architect and designed the new garden layout for us. We still have a long way to go, but it is starting to look good!

Before

Flynn and Mark playing together on the rug. Mark is on the right.

This photo was taken on the 26th of February when Peter and Astrid came and helped us in the garden for a day. The two little boys watched each other with great interest.

Mark's Baptism

Mark in his christening outfit

He just looked so adorable in his little outfit we bought for him in Belgium - and it fit perfectly. What a miracle in itself!

First Ever Blog

Well I have finally decided to give this Blogging thing a go after being prompted by my sister Sigrun. I don't know yet how long I will last, but I will see how I go.

My blog will mostly be about my family - my little son Mark and my husband Stephen, and our lives here in Toowoomba. Very exciting!
